Word to Democrats: Men in women's sports goes beyond sports, and it's not a fringe issue
Astoundingly, losing Democrats continue to think they have the lock on smarts and kindness as they bully and threaten anyone who stands up for women's rights
I was walking with a true blue Democratic voter the day after the election, and she was without ideas about how Trump could have won, in fact, a Republican sweep, in a decisive manner. She could only put the loss down to racism and sexism.
Tentatively, I pointed out that among the reasons people listed for voting Republican were immigration, the economy, and the trans issue. I reminded my friend of our pre-election discussion during which I expressed my extreme disappointment that Democrats seemed to be digging in on supporting men in women’s sports. At the time, my friend dismissed that as a “fringe issue.” I posited now that apparently it wasn’t a fringe issue.
“It’s still a fringe issue. It affects no one. If it is an issue, it shouldn’t be,” she said confidently. I was speechless.
Sputtering, I responded, “What do you mean, it doesn’t affect anyone. It’s way more than sports. It affects all women’s ability to have a word for themselves. It affects everyone’s right to believe in reality. It’s forcing everyone to believe a man can become a woman.”
“All those people who said they voted Trump because of the trans issue don’t know one thing about that issue. It just gave them an excuse to be racist or sexist,” she said. I changed the subject because we are friends and I wanted to keep it that way.
Shortly after that disturbing conversation, somewhere on the X-verse, I found Scott (I did not bookmark his page and cannot find it again). Scott mansplained at length why women should not care about men in women’s sports and spaces. It was so astoundingly misogynistic, and chillingly, revealed some of the same sentiments expressed by my friend. Here is Scott’s revelation;
“There are not even 200 male-to-female trans kids playing girls sports in America. Maybe another 100 at the college level. And most women’s athletes themselves are in favor. Conservative demagoguing on the issue made it seem more widespread and consequential than it is. The only rational response to the issue was Spencer Cox (Utah Gov, R) in his rationale for vetoing the bill: There were only 4 such kids in his state. It wasn’t hurting anyone. Err on the side kindness. Republicans preyed on transphobia and ignorance on a fringe issue, as if this is an issue LIBERALS even spend much bandwidth on. No one ever lost an election betting on the stupidity of the American electorate, and the meanness of the conservative electorate. The vast majority of youth sports trans participants amount to nothing. No one is losing scholarships to this. Transphobia or being misinformed on the actual details of the issue are the only reasons anyone would be up in arms over an issue that affects so few people. Conservatives literally are the only ones talking about this, trying pass laws on it, etc… Democrats are pretty much “live and let live”. Democrats SHOULD have talked more about it, shown how ridiculous conservatives were on this, and that they were lying to people.”
Wow. Straight from the trans activist’s script. There’s so few trans people (deftly avoiding use of the word male), but no real numbers like those compiled by SheWon of the 1,055 medals won by males that should have gone to females. And obviously, if girls and women are worthy of a female category, then even one male athlete in that category is unacceptable. So, Scott, are women worthy of a female category?
It doesn’t hurt anyone. No one is affected. Uhmmm, it hurts women. Women are affected. That’s 51% of the population. If any man can call himself a woman, then the word woman has no meaning and women have no rights as a distinct sex class of human being. Women were living and letting live until men started saying they were women and demanding women’s rights. That’s foundational, a basic human right that women are apparently supposed to give up without a peep. I’m tired to the bone of explaining this shit to arrogant, smug rectal abscesses who apparently don’t think women are fully human.
I will now malign jackasses by saying they compare favorably to Scott. “Republicans preyed on transphobia and ignorance on a fringe issue, as if this is an issue LIBERALS even spend much bandwidth on.” Confident in his idiocy, Scott’s vestigial brain cannot imagine a reason beyond what he has been told—transphobia and ignorance, ginned up hate and fear—as to why anyone might have a problem with men saying they are women, why anyone might have a problem with this inconsequential issue that Scott is too unimaginative, too arrogant to think might have contributed to the Democrats bruising loss. It is outrageously disrespectful to assume that anyone disagreeing with the lie that men can become women is simply motivated by hate and fear. And ignorance. Some people who disagree with gender ideology have educated themselves, and know that gender ideology is a lie. The arrogance that Democrats, and in particular, Scott himself, has the lock on kindness (ha) and what’s important to spend one’s bandwidth on is eye-watering. They’re still doing it! Calling women standing up for their rights, and people who have educated themselves about gender ideology’s lies stupid and mean. AND THEY CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHY THEY LOST.
The Free Press published an article titled Democrats Picked The Wrong Women’s Rights Issue, claiming Harris et al should have chosen men in women’s sports over abortion. As if women only get one issue. As if it’s either or. As if those are only women’s issues. What the hell. They’re the same issue—women as a distinct sex class deserve sex-based human rights. To their own sports and spaces and to reproductive autonomy. And women do not exist in a vacuum; actually, they exist in a patriarchy, so men, even Scott, are affected by their girlfriend’s ability to have an abortion.
By far the best response to what has happened here in the U.S. is a tweet JK Rowling wrote back in April, about the UK left, that she retweeted “for the benefit of some of the numbskulls in my mentions.”
“Women like me, and there are a lot of us, aren't and never have been far-right. We simply want the left to wake the hell up, because we're watching it do its utmost to alienate people it used to represent. I'm not saying Trump's win was down to the gender stuff - I'm not an American voter, so can't judge. In any case, the Labour Party won the last UK election and they've embraced gender identity ideology whole-heartedly (although they won against a Tory government so enfeebled and unpopular it would have been miraculous if they hadn't, and their popularity since gaining office has plummeted.) What I do know is that millions of women in the UK and across the developed world are extremely angry about men in women's sport, men in women's jails and the erosion of single-sex spaces. Parents are angry at being demonised because they don't want their troubled kids to undergo irreversible medical treatments of extremely questionable benefit. People are sick to the back teeth of being bullied and threatened for refusing to embrace an elitist, academia-generated ideology that's having severe real world consequences. Large swathes of the left continue to be threatening and abusive to anybody who resists their attempts to impose ideological language or bully them out of wrongthink. Leftist activists jeer and sneer at erstwhile female allies for the crime of believing biological sex is real and matters. And leftist leaders still appear more interested in sucking up to gender activists than - to take a topical example in the UK - female nurses whose crime is not wanting to undress in front of a fully intact male. So to those screaming 'bigot' and 'fascist' at me, you should know two things. Firstly, I'm completely indifferent to your disapproval, as I'd have thought you'd have realised by now. Secondly, and far more importantly, the only thing more harmful to your cause than your pseudo-religious belief in gender identities is your astounding, self-righteous arrogance.
I have, so far, not seen Democrats owning their ignorance.
Just wanted to add this, https://blueprint2024.com/polling/why-trump-reasons-11-8/
Among top three reasons voters chose Trump over Harris: "Kamala Harris is focused more on cultural issues like transgender issues rather than helping the middle class”
I'm Canadian, but still cried when Trump won the first time. Thought it would be the end of the world etc.
Then, Biden signed the Equality Act on his first day in office and I realized, like getting doused with cold water, that the Democrats were compromised from top to bottom. They put males being in female prisons, sports, spaces at the top of their list.
The smug "it doesn't affect anyone" chorus that followed showed a callousness to women and girls and a raging hypocrisy.
Democrats earned this loss. They fought hard for it with every dismissal, every cancelation, every witch hunt and placard they waved on this socially engineered movement to replace sex with gender and profit off harm.
