Sarah, thank you for this wonderful column. Dr. Jensen, I read this chapter and it is one of the very best documents I haver read on this topic in a long time. Thank you.
Great discussion. It’s reassuring to hear simple words and sentences clarify.
My only disagreement is, and will always be, over pornography. Straight porn ≠ gay porn, and the same with other paid sex. When only men act, direct, edit distribute and consume a sex product, you can never claim a “feminist” angle on it.
There is no feminist angle on gay male sex acts.
None.
It’s similar to lumping T with LGB. They have no relationship.
I think Jensen agrees with you. Porn is absolutely harmful to women, thus no way it can be feminist. I think he's saying that progressives, men and women, don't come down hard on porn because they don't want to be seen as old-fashioned pearl clutching conservatives and criticizing porn would directly attack one of the pillars of the patriarchy—men's view that they are entitled to sexual pleasure regardless of the cost to women

I agree re: the chapter on transgenderism. The whole book is refreshingly clear and logical.

Thanks to both of you for this level headed, straight forward truth. It is refreshing.
