It’s quite the illiberal mindset one must have entrenched to feel it appropriate to share such narcissistic and juvenile material as a professional output 🤦♂️
Being a true believer in TWAW, coupled with the disconnection from the material reality of being female never fails to be astonishing. Athletes should really know better: it really demonstrates the level of ideological capture.
Wade seems to have zero actual empathy but tons of performative empathy. The stereotype is women have empathy, and for those females devoid of empathy, climbing aboard the troon train is a way to perform empathy to signal their femininity.
It's similar to the extremity of empathy that Mormon women are showing for muslim men, helping them to invade Utah, Texas, and elsewhere. The most extreme of islamic fundamentalists, who are, of course, happy to use them...
I've seen a number of Christians asserting that Muslims must be welcomed in the US so that they can be preached to and converted. Uh, it's not gonna work like that, folks.
Whew, what a slog to read Alison Wade's maunderings. She is not only incoherent, she is as confused as people like Nikki Hiltz. I can't believe many people read this stuff and good on you
Sarah for making the effort to parse it so we don't have to. Just yesterday I commented in the NYT about women's rights over trans "rights" and repliers tried to take me to the woodshed with their total ignorance of women's sports, chromosomes and biology. One said I needed to "take sides" when all I said was people needed to be able to have a polite discussion of the science.
ahaha, Wade is such a joke. The thought of her becoming shocked and traumatized over discovering that some female runners are *gasp*- Republicans! or even just...NOT woke leftists!! is so funny. You're absolutely right that all the "I like them, I don't like them.." is middle school level maturity. If that.
People like her believe in sameness. In the idea that there's an enlightened level beneath all that stupid 'division' of societal norms and circumstances, we just need to unearth and then all and any differences magically disappear and we are all the same and everyone likes anyone.
It's the ridiculous basis of blank slate theory, favoured by people who want to believe they would never be on the wrong side of an argument, so whatever side they're on must be right, evidence be damned.
The equation of “disagreement” with “dislike” is a big factor driving the increasing insularity of the two political sides. More and more people (and D more than R) are saying they would never date someone who votes for the other party. I miss the days when people could just get along without knowing or caring how anyone else votes.
As one in the male category (real-one) the kind of narrative that Alison calls "thinking" is absurdly familiar and has been for much of my life. Imagine dating women like her, and that your biology overrides sanity. Now, g0 and check out Angie Rasmussen's substack. This woman proved, no, Angie nailed to the wall to the extent it is possible, that covid originated in the Wuhan Wet Market. She's a scientist and a good one. Her work is impeccable.
And yet THIS female, Angie Rasmussen, has written, "Trans women are women!" It's... I don't have words for this capacity... yet.
Now, imagine that so many of the "best women" available are like her, or like Alison, and you are left with a Hobson's choice. Many in the male category handle this sort of thing by agreeing and pretending, because... those humans we date are, well, female. Several years ago, older and if not wiser more scarred, an astonishingly attractive woman in her late 40's approached me in a parking lot at my gym. I was cautious, and we had two tea and walking around dates. On the second date she was directing me as to everything I was to do in my life, and what I was to think. She was absolutely certain, but often so wrong. A fount of opinions she got from Hollywood and I don't even know where, and impenetrable. I understood exactly why she was divorced. She was devastated when I told her no more.
Yes, even toddlers have more self-awareness than this. I felt for her, but... weep for us in the male category, Sarah!
Being "likable" is the con-man's stock in trade. (And the con-woman's, I have met my share.)
I sometimes wonder if this weird Klein bottle of thought about men, where anything that comes into that mind flows right out uncontained because the inside of the Klein bottle is the outside --- is precisely because these women know that these men are, indeed, men, and these women are biologically doomed to "like" them because, well, they might just mate with them, and they are very, very hetero? Kind of like men can be doomed to like women like Angie and Alison...
Yikes.
Thank you, Sarah.

Have you no self-awareness, Wade?

Capital, not capitol, punishment.

Her heart breaks for the Trans who are good at sport?
Why?
They can do sport. With males. And that’s ok right?
It’s a wilful blindness. It’s astonishing.
Woman gets placed…. Thrilled to be in the final.
Next time woman loses her place to a trans athlete. By some way.
Does not make the final.
How about all women get replaced by trans?
All women that made the final the previous year, train all year for this years final. Not one makes it.
It’s a final of all trans.
That’s ok is it?
Hopefully now your heart has been mended and is soaring with the eagle.
Meanwhile, here on the ground….
