Fellow Substacker and critical thinker Jenny Poyer Ackerman has a fabulous podcast called UnMuted, in which she introduces listeners to people from all corners of the trans ideology-affected universe. I was flattered and delighted she asked me to be on the podcast. She may or may not have changed her mind about that decision after she pulled my string and I simply would not shut up. Isn’t that the way?
We started out talking about how Caster Semenya really peaked me in that that incident led me to question how previously unassailable large sports organizations, like the International Olympic Committee, the IAAF, USA Track and Field, the NCAA, US Anti-Doping were treating women, women’s sports, and women’s rights. I assumed, like many people, that I was missing something important that those organizations knew that it was okay that Caster Semenya was competing in the female category. That, in fact, Semenya was just a super fast woman. The IOC would never knowingly allow a male to compete in the Olympics in the female category—it was too outrageous to comprehend. That the IOC would knowingly force elite women, athletes who had spent a lifetime training to compete against a man, and mislead the public for years? It just burdens the imagination. It’s crazyville. But what I discovered is that I wasn’t missing anything. These sports organizations have been and are openly and brazenly discriminating against women.
At the risk of minimizing the existential harm to women and women’s sports, I turn to my favorite Seinfeld episode in which Elaine has gone out on a date that Jerry set up, and the supposedly nice guy “takes it out.” Incredulous, Jerry asks how this obvious assault on an innocent woman can be, and Elaine replies, “Oh, it be.” Well my friends, these outrageous assaults on the rights of women are indeed happening. Oh, it be.
“Oh, it be.” Yes!! Brilliant analog. One correction from your post: if you talked too much, why did I need to ask you to come back and talk for another hour, huh? You were fantastic. 💪🏻
