When will this nonsense be over? Not only does it take rewards away from real women, but it is dangerous as in the Olympic boxing match. This should be against the law!
This is so sad: robbing people who’ve had an especially hard struggle to become recognized athletes. He’s such a disgusting example of oblivious self-regard. Ugh!!
I really don't understand *why* this 50-year-old wants to do this anyway. As I understand it, he's had a reasonably successful career as a male athlete (and kudos to him for achieving what he has, with his visual impairment). Why doesn't he just put his feet up on the terazza and enjoy a glass of Chianti now?
A second (unrelated) point is that most Olympic sports are *designed*, right from their ancient Greek beginnings, to showcase physical skills at which men (through their anatomy/physiology) can excel. It was never, and could never have been reasonably expected, that women could "beat" men at men's sports, and it's frighteningly recently that women have been "allowed" to compete in them even among themselves.
Where are all the "transwomen" queuing up to be members of "synchronized swimming" displays, or to dance around gym halls with ribbons on sticks (there must be a name for that, but I don't know it). Or, for that matter, to take part in "fast knitting" competitions? There really are fast knitting competitions, which, as far as I know, have never been sex-segregated, and one year a former (male) Anglican bishop came second. Good for him!
Women and men are equal in value and dignity, but we are (not incidentally, but purposefully) different in our physical configuration, and (I know I'm preaching to the choir now) no amount of extraneous hormones, surgery, still less "self-identification" will change that.
I really enjoyed your article. You make some good points. I guess the best thing for now is for the race to go through for him to win so as to shed light on the plight of women in sports. This was an interesting and unique angle to look at age, sex and disability.

Great data analysis. This is what is really needed, even more than the stories, to show what’s going on, and how stark the difference is.
These men are wrecking women’s sports. They need to go.
Great article. Thank you for taking the time to dig out the data. I hope it gets wide publicity. Most people still don't understand what is going on
