Firstly, I can't even articulate how amazing Frances is. But our society has eroded so far on this subject that we have stripped Frances' youth and innocence to the point that she has to have the composure of a 30 year old woman. It is awful.
Secondly, we have to acknowledge that the teachers, counselors, administrators, school board members, athletic association members and some parents are at least besotted enablers but more likely pimps. They are pimping out males to infiltrate female sports and safe spaces.
This isn't a philosophical discussion. You cannot change sex. But you can present yourself as the opposite sex, or a cat, or a transformer. These two things are completely different. I honestly don't care if a male wants to grow his hair, put on makeup and wear a dress. He can still play sports....on the boys team. He can still use a locker room...the boys locker room.
Enabling a male to use a female bathroom, locker room or play on a girl's sports team makes you a pimp and a sexual predator. That is a crime in every state. All of the adults that have enabled this should charged with these crimes.
"Enabling a male to use a female bathroom, locker room or play on a girl's sports team makes you a pimp and a sexual predator." I've long speculated the adults in the schools pushing this evil are sexual perverts doing so to be sexually titillated at the thought of forcing these girls to share locker rooms with males or to be pounded by males on the court. Sexual predators as you clearly state.
Yes, I've said it before I'll say it again. Voyeurism and exhibitionism are sex crimes. Pick up the phone and report it to child protective services and the police. Call out the DA if they don't prosecute it. Make sure every adult responsible gets on sex offender lists for assisting/not stopping.
This right here! Peeping and flashing are crimes, AND they escalate! Today's voyeur is rubbing up on women on the Metro next year, becomes a piquer after THAT gets boring, then eventually a stalker and a rapist. It takes years, yes, but they are dedicated little sick fucks!
Thank you Frances and your parents for standing up and speaking out. You are right on every count and the science, if these people in your school would only do their research, is clear. There are only two genders, XX and XY and some who are DSD, differences in sexual development with a Y chromosome who are still male. You never should have had to go through this and the harassment that followed. As a young girl you have been sexually harassed by a grown man in your locker room and how ironic it is with all the Epstein files’ revelations and backlash, that the State of Washington is still so blind to their own cruelty and illegality. As a two time Olympian. I and all female Olympians were given a simple chromosome test which was eliminated at some point due to the radical trans agenda that made a mockery of women’s sports. Sanity is slowly returning, especially due to brave people like you and forums like The Female Category. World Swimming and World Athletics are banning DSD and trans people from competing in the female category and reinstating the chromosome test as are some other sports bodies. So you go girl and good luck in all you do and congratulations on your accomplishments. All the best, Francie (Francea) Kraker Goodridge OLY 1968 and 1972.
A good counter to yesterdays WaPo article. I’m tired of these outlets constantly framing trans girls as the helpless victims and either explicitly or implicitly casting girls as the villains in their own category. The result is that brave girls who stand up for their rights get vilified by adults who are supposed to be there to protect them. This is the problem with the Dems “leave it up to states and local sports organizations” approach —girls are systemically robbed of their ability to be heard and fight for their federally protected rights.
that WaPo article was absolutely egregious, if i’m thinking about the same one you are. didn’t they say he doesn’t have an inherent advantage over the female runners because he’s poor and didn’t have shoes that fit and some of the girls had expensive shoes? it was astonishingly, deliberately stupid and bad faith.
This one’s for all the “why don’t women and girls just not compete” fans out there. Firstly, all women/girls don’t agree, there are some women who’ve fallen for the empathy trap, some who don’t care (yet) and some sex realists. Just think how hard it would be to get all men to agree on an issue. Secondly, schools and athletics departments will not support the girls who speak out. And thirdly, the wholesale indoctrination of kids in schools means that if you don’t believe that everyone has a gender soul you’re the pariah. And girls have to put themselves in this position because administrators are so f¥<€!n spineless. Infuriating.
Incredible. Just truly incredible. And inspiring. My family made a choice to not do what Frances has done. It wasn't something we felt capable of withstanding back in 2020 when this travesty descended on our high school and ultimate Frisbee team. I am somewhat sad to not be a famous fighter for women, but even the low level of abuse we took was devastating. And the world wasn't ready for the pushback yet.
"I’ve never considered myself a feminist but I think, where are the women standing up for these girls?" Those women are not standing up for these girls because those women aren't feminists, but there is an endless stream of feminists fighting for these girls. How does she think the federal law about sports and sports funding came into being? Feminists. Real ones. The fact that you support separate sports categories by sex tells me you are a feminist. Claim it! Those women referred to as feminists who fought for girls and women to be full members of society. Those women not standing up for the girls are those that support even the most deranged males, and they will pound the girls and women into the ground for not incessantly catering and groveling to the impulses and demands of males. Many will call themselves feminists, but they are nothing more than handmaidens to misogyny. They are aided and abetted by the ones that straddle the fence, the women that say they support separation of sports by sex but then hold onto bashing women for not following a prescription for living life in an anthill with assigned roles. You have done an amazing job with your daughter and there are many of us fighting for these girls.
This is insane. But. I really think understanding this and related social phenomena clearly is important.
Obviously this hurts the girls in many ways. And yet. Misogyny is not what’s motivating these people. The gender realists really need to get past that imo. All these parents and women who went along with this are not motivated by misogyny. Obviously. There is something else going on here.
This is politics run amok. It’s complicated for sure. But I’d argue Trump derangement syndrome among other factors is more relevant. Imagine if Obama had passed the same executive order.
These people really believe in Trans. They’re all over Substack. Liz Planck, Jessica Valenti, Sam Baker, CHH. They all think it’s real, and opposing it is “throwing trans kids under the bus”.
This is motivated by a strange brew of human folly, but not misogyny. Even if the upshot is a misogynist outcome, that’s not what’s really driving this madness. Just saying. I think Julie Bindel and others are barking up the wrong tree.
If we keep saying these people are motivated by misogyny we won’t convince them, because that’s not what’s actually happening.
I think you make an important point. From what I've seen, the pull toward in-group approval is far, far more powerful than I ever grasped before. I have friends who've known and loved me for decades, and who know the specific harm 'trans' has done to my family. Nothing in this whole nightmare has been more astonishing than sitting with those friends and walking them through the activist playbook, telling them the things they wouldn't otherwise hear, and watching them reach for any excuse to stick with the herd -- none of whom is even present during this excruciating exercise. Time and again I have experienced this, and the one thing I can say for them is that these women are confirmed feminists who are legit blind to the misogyny they're promoting. It's one more head-against-wall psychological anomaly brought to us by Trans, Inc.
I agree completely that it's impossible to overstate the need to be in-group and the fear/aversion to being shunned/cast out by that group. I think the hard work of second-wave feminists (Germaine Greer, et al) was done in the 1970s and 80s—they were the ones who had to deal with the harsh consequences that Frances is now enduring. But in the early 2000s, being stridently feminist was considered awkwardly out of date. The new "feminists" were modern, "sex work is work" women. It was a heckuva lot easier to go along with what modern women were supposed to like—even being choked during sex, eg. I was blown back by this—yes I'm ancient but there is no time period when this practice could be considered fun or empowering or positive. Again, in-group zeitgeist. A woman who will convince herself that being choked during sex is fun and normal can easily be convinced that a man is a woman if he says so. I personally find it easier to deal with being out-group simply because I have lots of practice—virtually my entire life—and still it's not easy. My daughters would say I seek out uncomfortable situations but in a patriarchal society, I think if you're comfortable you're probably not a feminist
Like many on here, we're in the same club of non-herd mentality. Another way to see this is there are not many Hobbits, the only ones who can resist the pull of the ring.
I would say the word "blind" covers much territory and blindness is often selective. I also believe that these women whom you state are confirmed feminists were just signaling feminism due to the need for in-group approval.
There are other factors at play besides misogyny, but females (and males) are raised to side with males anytime there's a conflict between the 2 sexes. That any men and women escape this brainwashing and putting males on a pedestal is amazing.
Actually the boy himself in this instance, Andi Rooks, did an interview with Brandi Kruse in which he openly admits he's male, and his dad does too. Coaches, school administrators, teachers, all those people who denounced Frances for calling him a man also knew he's a man. They had to pretend otherwise, very loudly, to maintain the lie and keep their jobs. They were willing to be blatantly, horrifically cruel to a 16 y.o. girl to prop up the feelings of a boy who they all know to be a boy. Let's imagine—and it very rarely happens—that a girl who identified as a boy was on a boys' team and another boy objected and called her a girl. While the school would be forced to back her up because their policy is to support trans claims always, their support of her and condemnation of the boy, I guarantee, would have been much more subtle. Girls can NEVER identify into male status. That's why I think it is misogyny. It's a libderal-approved way of loathing women
Can we all agree that this is the craziest shit of all time. The boy is being supported by his dad to play on the girls team. The case of the missing testosterone.
There're also the misogynists on the right that either keep silent or subtly cheer from the sidelines as girls and women are "put back in their place." I've been in mostly very masculine, physical jobs my entire life. There have been several instances over the decades of being challenged by a few to prove my worthiness by participating in workplace sports with the men. I wasn't there to play tackle sports, but I was there to do my technical jobs, which I always did well and was always physically capable. I always gave them the middle finger, btw. Since some have the attitude that large biceps and triceps and being able to hold their own against a male with those are a prerequisite for certain technical jobs, I would love to call their bluff. Require these men to pass a wrestling contest with a much bigger and stronger male, and if they get crushed, no job.
I don't mind read but I'm not accepting they believe a child changed sex. While there are multiple factors at play, its women's and girls' rights and boundaries under attack along with childhood innocence, not adult males. Consider that throughout human history males are the more physically dangerous sex, and why societies work to keep them employed and mated, or in the military. The consequence is both men and women will more readily cater to a male. Rather than call this misogyny, I will refer to it as evolutionary survival that has not evolved with our modern western laws and way of life. Another factor is we are seeing the good and the bad that comes with freedoms and opportunities. Like some men, there are some truly awful women that in earlier times kept their real nature under wrap due to societal pressure and consequences.
Again, ya gotta read Robert Jensen. He explains exactly what you're talking about. How liberal progressive men and women have given porn and the trans movement—both certifiably harmful to women and children—a pass, and still call themselves feminists/progressives/liberals
I don't know how you can see it as anything but misogyny. There's so little care or concern for women, even by other women, that our institutions are allowing grown men to share changing and locker rooms with minor girls under the guise of "kindness". Women and girls got no vote in this and they are vilified if they protest. There's not a single part of this ideology that costs men or boys anything or it wouldn't have gotten off the ground. They wouldn't put up with it. Left wing men are some of the most vocal people crucifying girls and women who stand up for themselves. Just more men who believe it's their right to direct women's lives. They're showing their true colors.
I get that the upshot is bad for women. I am saying that something else is going on here though. Look at all the feminist accounts on Substack. Look at the good boys like Jeremy Mohler and John Pavlovitz, and Richard V Reeves. who would never speak up about this, or openly support it. Look at all Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. They are idiots, but not misogynists. Something else is motivating these people.
Frances, I’m SO proud of you. I'm proud of your mom too, and your little brother -- I hope he got that miserable administrator on video but even if not, he had your back, and it sounds like that's the kind of family you have the good fortune to belong to. That, plus your impressive clarity and strength of character, will take you places in life that will cause your current classmates to wish to God they had what you have! I'll bet many of them wish that even now. Courage like yours is rare in someone so young, as you're observing. But I love the way you describe the benefits of saying what everyone knows is true, and I know you'll keep doing it. I'm also very confident that it will pay off. You're an inspiration; thank you!
I hope Frances sees just how many people stand with her, and in admiration of her. Frances, you’re a true hero. The silent majority is becoming less silent thanks to brave people like you.
What I'd like to highlight about this fabulous interview is that Frances' strength comes directly from her mother: her outspoken support, her boundaries ("over my dead body" can the school interview the girl without representation), and more. It's an excellent example not only of a strong girl, but of how strong girls are made: from strong moms.
Anyone who thinks or pretends that they are the opposite gender are gender dysphoric and out of touch with reality. They need psychiatric help not enablers or codependents. It is inhumane to play along with a psychotic person. Why aren't legitimate psychiatric professionals consulted? This is a slam dunk violation of Title IX, equal protection laws and common sense.
You make a lot of good points. 1) Legitimate psychiatric professionals are under as much pressure as Frances to affirm a kids' gender claims, and 2) yes this is a slam dunk Title IX violation, and every school official in WA knows it but is hiding behind Washington's gender identity laws.Which are incompatible with women's rights and reality
Well. When Aimee didn't object about what was being taught in freshman health class this situation became inevitable.
And it's a clash of religions too. "Trans" ideology is as much a religion as anything else recognized as such and we ought to acknowledge that all religions are cults and all cults are the same, and their ceremonies are based on the belief that the adherent is reborn as a new being.
Frances's female classmates are just being typical church ladies, ain't they? Shaming and persecuting the heretic.
Feminism wrought this; good luck to feminism attempting to undo this.
But most sincerely, admiration and support for Frances. You got guts, kid, and you're going to need all of 'em before this gets anywhere close to ending.
I’m a physician and the behavior described in this article could probably be described as a combination of groupthink and mass delusion. The people supporting the presence of men in women’s sports and in women’s safe spaces appear to believe that a man who thinks he is a woman should be treated as if he really is a woman. Some of these people act as if they believe that the man has truly become a woman despite obvious evidence to the contrary. Regardless of the underlying cause, this mindset (which includes delusional thinking, resistance to reason, and absolute certainty in its correctness) qualifies as a pathologic state. We should call out this sickness wherever we see it and hope that the behavioral pendulum swings in the direction of normalcy soon. I am deeply sympathetic toward Frances and her family for the persecution she has suffered in speaking the truth to a mob of heretofore unaccountable dolts. Hopefully, the attention of federal investigators will help focus the minds of these blindered, vindictive people.
Firstly, I can't even articulate how amazing Frances is. But our society has eroded so far on this subject that we have stripped Frances' youth and innocence to the point that she has to have the composure of a 30 year old woman. It is awful.

Every fucking "trans ally" out there is criminal. Criminal. I can't wait till they all get their comeuppance, in whatever form that takes.

Hi Jenny. Thank you 🙏 and sorry to hear you’ve been affected by this personally.
It’s crazy.
There are other factors at play besides misogyny, but females (and males) are raised to side with males anytime there's a conflict between the 2 sexes. That any men and women escape this brainwashing and putting males on a pedestal is amazing.
One thing I'm sure of is the women with penises will take precedence 100% of the time over women with vaginas. Call it whatever you want.
But these knuckleheads don’t believe the boy is a male. They actually think he’s a girl. I’ll never get through to people who don’t want to see it.
The problem here is not misogyny. It’s something else.
Actually the boy himself in this instance, Andi Rooks, did an interview with Brandi Kruse in which he openly admits he's male, and his dad does too. Coaches, school administrators, teachers, all those people who denounced Frances for calling him a man also knew he's a man.
No, not that he changed sex - that’s he’s TRANS and trans never changes. You are born trans and will always be trans.
I know there’s sexism the world and men are dangerous I get that. But.
Trans was not brought to us by the same guys that watch wrestling and drive pick up trucks.
Trans was brought to us by media academia etc. who are overwhelmingly feminist, progressive etc.
pinning the trans phenomenon on misogyny is a major stretch.
Again, ya gotta read Robert Jensen. He explains exactly what you're talking about. How liberal progressive men and women have given porn and the trans movement—both certifiably harmful to women and children—a pass, and still call themselves feminists/progressives/liberals

Right on!
Horrible stuff. Oregon is better but not by much. Have to keep fighting this nonsense. Good for this girl to show spirit when dealing with morons.
I’m curious, in what way is Oregon better?
Our culture has always believed that men’s demands supercede women’s rights. That’s how you can tell they really know who the man is.
