Be still my blood pressure, my very favorite in the New York Times’ stable of Andrew Tate wannabes, Jere never-met-a-man-who-didn’t-belong-in-women’s-sports Longman, has entered the fencing fray. Words cannot express the joy it gives me when this artifact bends to the keyboard, intent on letting idiocy have its deserved space in the paper of record. Mindful of his health, the Times disabled comments, which, believe you me, was a godsend, as Longman would not have survived even the friendly fire from liberal Times’ readers on this one.
“transgender athletes who experience male puberty”
Is this phrasing being used so extensively, now, to lay the groundwork for trans identified men, who have not experienced male puberty, to compete against women?
I'm guessing yes. So, boys who have taken puberty blockers well before Tanner stage 2, and cross sex hormones. An example of this is male volleyball player Blair Fleming. Also, in Minnesota now, male softball player Marissa Rothenberger, born Charles, whose mother changed his birth certificate at age 9 to sat Female.
This distinction has actually been used at elite world levels, including both Swimming and Athletics (T&F), although Athletics will be implementing a strict female-only policy, with a cheek swab requirement, possibly this season.
"I’m going to be a stickler about accuracy—the executive order did not block transgender athletes, as Longman wrote, it barred men from girls’ and women’s sports." and "Transgender athletes come in two sexes, just like sports categories. Women who identify as male or nonbinary are and always have been welcome to compete in the female category. And many do."
To be a stickler right back at you, this is not exactly true: women who ID as male or nonbinary and are on hormones should not be welcome to compete in women's sports. In some cases where they have been, this has caused issues. Mack Beggs should not have been allowed to compete with girls, because of being on T, and when "he" (that is, she) went into the boy's division and was basically met with a boycott from the boys, I think that's a not entirely unsympathetic position: the argument of a lot of the boys was basically "we don't want to get in trouble for beating up a girl even if she is on roids" and "we're Christians in Texas and we don't want to be full body contact wrestling with a girl or have her in our locker rooms", both of which are perfectly legitimate when women hold them.
More accurate to say that girls and women who simply have a belief that they have some kind of extra-material essence that is that of the opposite sex shouldn't be and generally aren't disqualified from participating in sports on that basis alone, but that's not all of them. Nikki Hiltz is annoying but honorable enough so far as I know, that trans guy swimmer who competes with men is great (absolutely no moral issues there, very honorable), but... that hasn't always been all of them.
Using exogenous testosterone is prohibited for both men and women, so when I say women who identify as male or nonbinary are free to compete in the female category, they, like all athletes cannot use prohibited drugs. Beggs was disqualified not for having a trans identity but for using a prohibited substance. Beggs put herself into an impossible situation, but actions have consequences. Trans athletes sometimes think they should be immune from those consequences, and in some cases that's proven true—trans masc nonbinary runner Cal Calamia, a female who takes testosterone, actually did receive a TUE to use T as a "medical necessity" for her mental health, but is restricted to racing in either the nonbinary or male category. As you may know, I follow Nikki Hiltz closely because running is my thing, as is honesty. Which is why Hiltz is fingernails on the chalkboard. She is a super talent, very savvy racer, and I hope to gosh the powers that be at World Athletics are A) testing the living daylights out of her, and B) have not caved to the BS of gender ideology like they did with Calamia and gave her a TUE for T for her mental health. Which as she demonstrates frequently, depends completely on others playing along with her
It boggles my mind that athletic organizations are writing exceptions to "non-binary" atheletes for testosterone for mental health. How is this ok? I follow NIkki Hilltz too because she drives me nuts. I thought she would probably be done with international competition years ago but then she seemed to get a second wind. I hope it wasn't steroid induced.
Well, according to Wikipedia, Beggs was on low-dose testosterone during the years she was competing with the girls, including one where she won a championship. Maybe it's been "vandalized" (as an organization they seem super pro-tranny), but here's an interview where she's taking a very narcissistic, "I'm-the-victim" posture, but is clearly still wrestling against girls and also pretty obviously on T.
Obviously we both agree on the general particulars, but the unfortunate truth is that one female trans-identifying as a "boy" managed to get an exemption for low-dose testosterone and take a championship away from another girl who wasn't a drug-cheating narcissist. :(
I hope you all can pass on the study below. It slays the myth that trans ideology affects only the few. Just extrapolate this study of misreported trans crimes to medicine, economics or any other field.
Presently, and this worsens as each day goes by, the statistical underpinnings of our research are rotting away by the inclusion of false information in many of our most crucial data bases. These data bases are meant to provide a foundation for all research and studies on crime, medicine, education and economics. Without the use of valid statistics all conclusions in these areas become corrupted and meaningless. See article below on crime & justice to realize just how enormous an impact this falsification of data is already having. B.W.
P.S. Transgender identified men have the highest rates of H.I.V. If that figure were included in the data base for women I wonder how would it affect treatment targets and outcomes?
I think people are slowly grasping that in every single “trans” or “gender” discussion we are speaking are men, men with a compulsion to imitate women.
Use of the term “trans”, like “gender”, continues to purposely confuse or hide reality which is the only intention of the words, like using “unhoused” to mean “vagrant” or “therapy” to mean “torture”.
Coverage of an incident exploded on T.V. and online May 8th as if it was the opening salvo of World War III. It was reported that a security guard questioned the sex identity of a person, Ansley Baker, who was using the women's bathroom at the Liberty Hotel in Boston. Ansley Baker, who looks more like a man than many men do, sports a short crew haircut, is six feet tall and favors stereotypical men's clothing. She also looks like she has a five o'clock shadow on her upper lip. Is she on testosterone? Ansley's companion, Elizabeth Victor, barely comes up to Ansley's shoulder making an even more suggestive contrast in their physical appearance. Of course Ansley Baker has to be aware of her own staged male performance. Looking at her, one would quickly assume she was a man. Still, this couple has publicized the incidence as if they were the victims of a mass murderer and the local media is playing it to the hilt. Although Ansley takes pains to look like a man, she is outraged at being mistaken for one. (Take a look at her online). Pity the poor security guard who has now been suspended from his job when he was only trying to protect the women who reported seeing a man in the Women's room. This is happening only because trans "women" insisting on using women's rooms have put many women on edge for fear of encountering a man in their bathroom. The actions of Ansley Baker and Elizabeth Victor look like nothing more than a scam to sue the hotel for big money - or a P.R. stunt to promote transgender goals. Maybe both. Why else go into a Ladies Room in Drag? This is a cruel, crude and cynical performance done knowing that people would be tricked into thinking that Ansley was a man and react accordingly.
The Attorney General of Massachusetts, Andrea Campbell (who is sympathetic to transgenderism), confirmed that they're processing complaints about the incident. The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination did not comment on any ongoing investigations.

For anyone who missed it.

As usual, great analysis Sarah!

Wow, they took down their own poll?
Also amazed. Sarah, great research & analysis & writing.
