Just thought I’d pass along websites I go to for accurate, up-to-date information and connections with the women’s sports community. This is not exhaustive by any means, and if you know of others, please pipe up in the comments.
Independent Council On Women’s Sports (ICONS)
International Consortium on Female Sport (ICFS)
All those up there, that’s the happy news. Strangely, there are some organizations that have “women’s sports” in the name that espouse inclusion of the male kind of women, so they’re actually promoting mixed sex sports. Which, who needs that? Looking at you Women’s Sports Foundation. Also deeply disappointing (since it’s in my home town), Tucker Center for Research on Women and Girls in Sport, who, when I asked whether they were conducting research on transgender inclusion in the female category, referred me to Athlete Ally. Which claims to be a LGBTQI+ inclusion supporting org, but they focus most of their efforts on the T part of that alphabet string. (They overlook the fact that trans identified women, trans men, have been competing in the women’s category with no fuss for some time. Because they’re in the correct category so
there’s nothing to holler about). Anyhoo, you have to be sort of careful about which women’s sport group you support. Read the fine print.
